Savor the Legacy, Taste the Excellence

Introducing Suffolk County, the beer that started it all! Nethergate Brewery's original recipe has been pleasing customers for over 30 years. Originally named Nethergate's Best Bitter, this multi-award winning beer was created by our beer-loving founders Dick Burge and Ian Honsey who had a passion for crafting great quality beer. Suffolk County has been a popular choice amongst ale enthusiasts ever since, winning a SIBA Gold Medal for Best Bitter in 2014! And guess what? The recipe has barely changed since Dick and Ian created it back in 1986. It's the perfect brew that stands the test of time. Cheers to that!

How Does It Taste?

If you're a fan of full-flavoured beers, you'll love the taste of Suffolk County! This Chestnut coloured best bitter has a biscuity malt flavour that is complemented by warming, roasted undertones. On the palate, it has a pleasant punch that is well-rounded with a wonderful bitter finish. It's a beer that you can enjoy on its own or with food. Whether you're in the mood for a hearty beef stew or a classic fish and chips, Suffolk County will be the perfect accompaniment to your meal.

Hops Used

What makes Suffolk County so special? The hops used, of course! We use Challenger and Sovereign hops to give our beer a unique flavour profile. Challenger hops provide a fruity and spicy aroma that is balanced by the earthy, herbal notes of Sovereign hops. These hops are carefully selected and blended to create a beer that is both complex and balanced. We're proud to use only the finest ingredients in our beer, and we think you'll taste the difference when you try Suffolk County! So, come on over to Nethergate Brewery and raise a glass of Suffolk County with us. We're confident that you'll love it as much as we do!

A superb Best Bitter, definitely a favourite. Smooth tasting, just the right amount of hops for my taste. What’s not to like?
