New Tricks: Our 2nd Collaboration Beer with Greene King
Two years, two collabs - we're back teaming up with the Greene King Brewery gang to craft another delicious real ale, New Tricks.
Our first collaboration together was a pale ale produced in 2022 called Top Dogs which was a huge success and much-loved in pubs and bars across Suffolk. We loved working with the brewery team at Greene King, as their passion and excitement for beer matched our own. Crafting complex and mouth-watering recipes together was a breeze, especially with access to their state-of-the-art equipment or as Ian called it “the brewer’s ultimate playground”.
So, when we had the chance to collaborate with the big and friendly brewer again, we jumped at it!
This time, we set out to create a refreshing beer that's perfect for soaking up the sun – something light, refreshing and session-able. But, of course, it had to have something a little twist to keep you on your toes. We delicately added some lemon peel for extra zing and a hint of ginger for a unique flavour balance. And, after some heavy experimentation, we finally struck gold - or rather, a 4% golden ale with a kick!
Our Head Brewer, Ian Carson, said: “We loved working with Greene King last year on our first collaboration, as their passion and excitement for beer matched our own. This year we set out to create a beer that was light and refreshing, with a little twist to keep people on their toes. Delicately adding some lemon peel for extra zing and a hint of ginger for a unique flavour balance makes this golden ale something you won’t want to miss wherever you are.”
How Does it Taste?
An easy-drinking golden ale with malty, citrus and ginger notes on the nose and a malty and floral taste. Subtle hints of ginger complement the lemon which enhances the freshness beyond the hops.
