Oktoberfest Returns to Suffolk! 🍺🇩🇪

We’ve got three big weekends in the Nethergate calendar each year, and the next one is just around the corner…

Oktoberfest is returning to Long Melford!

If you joined us last year, you’ll know that we don’t do Oktoberfest by halves. We don’t need much encouragement to put up a big beer tent, fill the bars, invite some brilliant musicians along and turn a few days into a proper celebration.

We’re now well into planning this year’s event and, with more food, more live music and a whopping selection of real ales and German beers all in under our tent in our new garden, we’re planning our biggest Oktoberfest ever!

A Little Bit of Bavaria in Suffolk

Oktoberfest has been celebrated in Munich for more than 200 years. What started as a royal wedding celebration back in 1810 soon became an annual tradition - and, somewhere along the way, beer became a rather important part of proceedings. Today, millions of people make their way to Munich each year to enjoy Bavarian beer, hearty food, live music and, most importantly, a good time with good company.

We might be a few hundred miles from Munich here in Long Melford, but bringing people together over a good beer is something we know a thing or two about – and something we absolutely love doing.

Our Biggest Bierzelt (Beer Tent) Yet 🍻

Our Bierzelt will once again be at the heart of the weekend, with even more covered space to grab a table, settle in with a beer and enjoy the music.

And because this is Suffolk in September, we’re planning for every eventuality. Rain or shine, we’ve got you covered. If the sun comes out, fantastic. If the heavens open, we’ll simply retreat under the tent and carry on.

Now, About the Beer… 🍺

We are a brewery, so naturally we take this bit rather seriously.

We’re putting together a huge beer line-up for 2026, with Suffolk and Bavaria meeting across the bars.

Expect a whopping selection of real ales, with plenty from our own brewhouse alongside beers from some brilliant guest breweries. We’ll also have a great range of German lagers and traditional German beers pouring throughout the weekend.

Whether you’re happiest with a pint of proper cask ale, fancy working your way through a few German beers or simply want to try something new, there’ll be plenty to choose from.

And beer isn’t the only option. We’ll have cider, wine, spirits, alcohol-free options and soft drinks available throughout the weekend too.

We’ll reveal the full beer list a little closer to the event – and there’s plenty to look forward to.

More Food. More Music. More Oktoberfest. 🎶🌭

We’re stepping things up across the board this year.

There’ll be more live music throughout the weekend, taking us from relaxed daytime sessions into lively evenings under the Bierzelt.

We’ve also got more food planned than ever before, with a great mix of food traders joining us across the four days. So whether you’re popping in for lunch, settling in for the afternoon or making a night of it, there’ll be plenty to keep you going.

Lederhosen at the Ready… 🇩🇪

It wouldn’t be Oktoberfest without getting into the spirit of things, so fancy dress is absolutely encouraged.

Lederhosen, dirndls, Bavarian hats – go as far as you like. Equally, if your contribution to Bavarian culture is simply turning up, raising a stein and enjoying yourself, we’re perfectly happy with that too.

So round up your friends, bring the family and save the last weekend of September.
