An especially happy Friday for us — we’re celebrating two recent awards for our little gem of a shop & taproom in Bury St Edmunds!
Our team’s hard work, warmth, and passion have earned us a place in the Good Beer Guide 2026 and the Chairman’s Winning Choice – Community Asset Award from CAMRA West Suffolk.
Buzzing is an understatement. The team there deserve every bit of credit for making it such a special hideaway in the town. Yes, we’ve got great beer on tap and in bottles, and a brilliant range of local gifts and goodies in a stunning historic building — but it’s their energy, friendliness, and hospitality that make the place what it is. It’s a thriving hub of chatter, conversation, and laughter in every room — and that’s down to the people behind the bar.
These awards belong just as much to them — and to everyone who’s ever wandered in for a pint, a chat, or a last-minute gift — as they do to us. You’ve helped make our little corner of the town centre a genuine community spot, and we can’t thank you enough.
It’s an exciting time to be part of the Bury St Edmunds beer scene. The town’s fast becoming one of the country’s top destinations for real ale and craft beer, thanks to so many brilliant independent businesses, local brewers, and pubs all pulling together. A special nod, too, to the volunteers, CAMRA members, and local groups like The Ale Trail, whose enthusiasm keeps the local beer world thriving.
Inside our Grade II-listed home, you’ll find the full Nethergate range, hand-picked local drinks and gifts, and that rare mix of history, character, and a perfectly kept pint. Whether you’re stopping for one, filling up a take-home draught, or popping by on a busy Saturday, you’re always welcome.
As we look ahead to celebrating our fifth year in Bury St Edmunds in 2026, we’re also keeping an eye out for new places where a Nethergate taproom might one day feel at home.
